MEET THE ARTIST
*Currently working in my studio on a new collection of oil mountainscapes*
All my work is completely original!
I try not to comply to expectations with my work.
A professional artist for over 15 years originally exhibiting for 5 years at the Northern Lights Gallery in the Lake District now represented by Gallery Northwest in Brampton, Cumbria.
I am based near the artists town of Kirkcudbright, Dumfries in Galloway after living in Cumbria for over 30 years.
My work is a collection of Lake District scenes, Scottish landscapes, seascapes, florals and abstracts.
I gather my inspiration from 30 years living in Cumbria, my home is now near the Galloway coast and my love of exploring and playing with texture, tone and composition.
It is not a wish to be different or even to stand out or simply to produce something desirable. It is a deep yearning to create, to be true to my mind’s eye, translating the landscape as I perceive it, telling a story of the land, sea and sky using colour, texture, form and depth, rather as if it were words in my journal.
I would describe much of my work as truly transcendent and other-worldly. Exposing and exploring a deep semi-conscious method of communicating with the landscape. My work enables me to translate my journey and visions without the use of words, instead choosing the brush as my narrative tool. I offer an intuitive creative explanation of the distance and landscape surrounding her, challenging the confines and limitations of the eye and mind”.
Since 2012 I have collaborated in many C-Art, Evan, Proseed and other local exhibitions and art trails in Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway.
I have created and been part of many solo and collaborative exhibitions across the UK.
