As the leaves start to blanket the surface of the earth and put nature to sleep work continues in my south facing studio near the sea in South West Scotland.
Continuing to embrace the new bright, unique abstract work I am exploring and experimenting alongside the more traditional contemporary landscape with a twist that is more associated with my work.
Oil is starting to make far more of an appearance in my study and exploration of new works which is not only exciting but also grounding in its foundations.
I find myself fine tuning my experimental abstract practice and method and asking myself how I can really hone the visual elements I am amalgamating onto the surface. Which elements to include? Which to eliminate is a constant process of evaluation and very much a question of aesthetics alongside message and form.

The freedom more abstract creations gives me as an artist to explore can not be understated. As artists we often fall into a trap of trying to prove our worth, our talent and our place amongst fellow professionals. Creating new innovative art has no rules and hence encourages us to play with no inhibitions and I for one find this deeply rewarding and captivating.
On Monday I delivered new work for the Winter exhibition at the Old Bakery Gallery at Newton Stewart. This is my second exhibition with David and Jenny at the wonderful fresh space that is The Old Bakery Gallery. It is a beautiful, welcoming and progressive space and absolutely worth a visit set in stunning Dumfries and Galloway and perfect for combining a river or beach walk and grabbing a bite to eat in the town.
